We write to offer our warmest congratulations on your election as the 47th President of the United States. Your victory reflects the deep aspirations of the American people for a strong, forward-looking leadership, and we have every confidence that your administration will usher in an era of renewed vitality and opportunity for the United States and its global partners.
I represent Azerbaijan Society of America, the first Azerbaijani diaspora organization established in the United States in 1957 and was the first and the only organization to represent the voice of Azerbaijan in America when it was under the control of Soviet Union. America gave us the freedom to raise the Azerbaijani flag next to the Star-Spangled Banner, representing the spirit of freedom and democracy.
As proud Americans of Azerbaijani heritage, we supported and followed your campaign and in looking to the future, America needs you more than ever. It is in serious decay and you correctly, put it, we need to bring it back and “Make America Great Again”.
As your administration begins to shape its foreign policy agenda, I would like to draw your attention to the significant and growing importance of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United States. Azerbaijan’s strategic role spans economic, cultural, social, political, and diplomatic domains, making it a key partner in advancing shared global goals.
Economically, Azerbaijan is a vital player in ensuring energy security for the broader region and beyond. Its role in major projects, such as the Southern Gas Corridor, directly contributes to diversifying energy supplies for Europe, reducing dependence on unstable markets, and aligning with America’s goal of strengthening global energy security. Azerbaijan’s modern infrastructure and growing potential in renewable energy also open avenues for collaboration in emerging technologies and sustainable development.
Culturally and socially, Azerbaijan stands as a model of tolerance and pluralism. Its society has long embodied coexistence among diverse ethnic and religious groups, making it a beacon of inclusivity in a region often marked by division. This cultural heritage strengthens ties with the United States, as it reflects shared values of harmony and mutual respect.
Politically and diplomatically, Azerbaijan plays a pivotal role in ensuring stability in the South Caucasus and beyond. Its strategic location at the crossroads of Europe and Asia positions it as an indispensable partner in combating terrorism, facilitating trade, and fostering regional connectivity. Azerbaijan is also a staunch ally in global peacekeeping efforts, including contributions to NATO missions in Afghanistan.
The recent 44-day war, during which Azerbaijan rightly reclaimed its internationally recognized territories from Armenia, marks a historic moment for the region. This outcome not only restores justice and sovereignty but also creates a profound opportunity for lasting peace and prosperity. As we move forward, Azerbaijan is committed to rebuilding these liberated territories and fostering reconciliation, turning a page towards regional development and stability. The support and engagement of the United States can be instrumental in shaping this new era of peace.
The relationship between the United States and Azerbaijan holds immense potential to strengthen security, advance economic growth, and promote mutual understanding.
