COVID Relief Announcement

Dear United States-Azerbaijan community members;

Azerbaijan Society of America (ASA) and Azerbaijani American Medical Association (AAMA) are very much concerned about the spread of COVID-19 across the country and its impact on all individuals. We remain deeply committed to support the Azerbaijani community in the US that is in need right now due to COVID-19 outbreak.

We are honored to announce a partnership between Azerbaijani American Medical Association (AAMA) and ASA to help members of our community in need, in particular with any financial, medical or accounting advice-related need. This assistance only applies to individuals who do not qualify for any U.S. government grants or benefits. This program will identify and support our community members or Azerbaijani students in the U.S. who are currently affected by COVID-19.

As always, the health and safety of our community is extremely important to us. Over the years, ASA has constantly reached out to distressed friends and families in our community and helped with various challenges that they faced, such as rent payments, utilities, being connected to business owners, doctors and lawyers. ASA has also supported Azerbaijani students with their school expenses. We are extremely proud of our Scholarship Program which has helped many Azerbaijani students who were studying in the United States.

We are aware that many people have been displaced from their jobs and small business owners are in need. As you all know, The US government is helping those individuals and small business owners trough the new stimulus package signed into law on March 27, 2020.  For more information regarding the stimulus package details, please visit the Internal Revenue Service’s webpage- https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/economic-impact-payments-what-you-need-to-know. There are also numerous small business relief programs (please check US government supported sites).

Please note that, due to limited budget of ASA and AAMA, only limited assistance will be offered also it is important to note that we will be focusing on our students who are studying in the U.S. BUT we will do our best toaccommodate all our community members who are currently residing in the United States.

As a reminder, please follow your official guidelines and cancel and avoid all gatherings of any sort. We must all do our part to avoid the unintentional spread of the COVID-19 virus. This virus is very serious, and it is absolutely imperative that you practice good hygiene and stay in your homes.

We hope that this initiative will be appreciated by many and hope it will provide you with a deeper understanding of our revered organization, which for the last 63 years, has been serving, supporting and shouldering the various needs of our community with many essential deeds.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to us (the undersigned) should you require additional information or if we can assist you in any way.
