Remembering Khojaly. Thirty years later.

Every Azerbaijani across the world is pausing to honor the victims that reflect on the tragic event unfolded in Khojaly.

On the night of February 25-26, 1992, Armenian armed forces destroyed the city of Khojaly. In just one night, 613 people, including 63 children, were killed. 8 families were fully destroyed, and 487 people were disabled. 1,275 civilians, including the elderly, women and children, were taken prisoner and subjected to unprecedented torture, humiliation, and insults. 56 people were killed with extreme cruelty, 3 were burnt alive, their scalps peeled off, their eyes taken out, and the bellies of pregnant women torn with bayonets. All of those victims were Azerbaijani.

The brutal killings were also documented by Human Rights Watch. Representatives of international media outlets visiting the site were horrified by what they saw.

CHILDREN who have experienced this trauma in their lives, shouted out their emotions.

"I hardly remember my mother, father, grandmother and sister. I don't even have a photo of my parents."

"When they burnt our house, we were running to save our lives. I looked back, my house was in flames...I want those ashes, they are my ashes!"

"I can't forget," she said, wiping tears from her eyes. It's like it happened yesterday. I re-live it every single day."

"I am the only member of our family who survived that tragic night. Now I am alone."
