Let’s unite and help Turkiye!

Americans with Azerbaijani Heritage offer their deepest condolences to the nation of Turkiye and our sincere sympathies to the bereaved families.

Azerbaijan Society of America stands in unwavering solidarity and sorrow with the government and people of Türkiye following the devastating earthquake.

Türkiye has been struck by two massive earthquakes within 9 hours of each other, a 7.7 was followed by a 7.6. Severe damage to the cities and casualties close to ten thousand people lost their lives. Türkiye has requested immediate international help and Azerbaijan was the first nation to answer this plea by sending humanitarian help and needed supplies.

From the current budget of Azerbaijan Society of America (ASA), the board of directors voted to make an immediate donation of $2,000 to the account established by the Turkish Consulate General in NY to help the survivors of this deadly earthquake.

ASA also established a fundraising campaign, and we kindly ask for your support. Please donate directly to ASA via PayPal or Venmo or to the Turkish Consulate General relief account. Whatever donations we receive from our donors, every penny will go toward the victims and their families through the funds established by the Turkish Consulate General in NY. If you prefer to make a donation through our organization, please specify as "Türkiye Earthquake Fund".

In addition, ASA's Tomorrow's Young Leaders and its leader Nigar Samadova started working with the young leaders in Philadelphia and Connecticut to collect sleeping bags, pocket warmers, winter clothing (jackets, gloves and headgear) to send to the victims, all these are also collected by the local Turkish Mosques or Consulate General's office. Again, we are pleading to everyone to help, donate, either through ASA or directly through the Consulate General of Turkiye (instructions on the right).

Clean and unused relief supplies can be dropped off at Türkevi’s located at 821 UN Plaza, First Avenue, New York, NY, 10017 until 9pm daily.
