Azerbaijan Society of America (ASA) Annual Picnic was great success!

ASA Family held their annual picnic on Sunday, August 27th at Ross Dock Picnic Area located north of the George Washington Bridge with scenic riverfront view. Fantastic turnout and everyone enjoyed a day filled with great food, conversations and incredible views. A wonderful opportunity for us to gather and enjoy a beautiful day together. We couldn't have drawn up a better day for the picnic/ Crystal blue skies and warm sunshine made our day extra special.

It is always heartwarming to see our community come together. Many new guests joined our group this year that made our picnic more special.

Tables were loaded with everyone's favorite dish, drinks, Samavor Çay, desserts and most important delicious barbeque of Kabobs, specially prepared and grilled for us by Raul Shamailov, a professional chef from Baku.

We had friends joining us from the Turkic World, Asia Burgos Uzbek community leader, Cemil Ozturk, Turkish community, our family members from Jewish-American, Pakistani-American, Bangladeshi-American, Chinese-American enjoyed spending a wonderful day with us.

Today our members and friends also Celebrated Lachin City Day. Bringing back internally displaced Azerbaijani families back to their original lands certainly was huge celebration for our community. Lachin City of Azerbaijan was one of the first cities that was occupied in 1992. It was a great tragedy for Azerbaijan and for the residents of Lachin, they had to flee to live as refugees in their own country for 30 years. After Azerbaijan's historic victory in the 44-day Patriotic Was in 2020, Lachin was liberated. Today the families are returning back home. We celebrated the Reviving of Karabakh!

Our profound gratitude to everyone for making ASA family picnic such a success. From the beginning to the end, everyone had such great enthusiasm and joy. Response from everyone has been tremendous.

Our next event is on October 15, celebrating Turkiye and Azerbaijan! Please make your reservations and join us.
