September 11

Twenty two years ago, September 11, the United States and the world had experienced a hateful act of terrorism. The coordinated suicide attacks by Al Qaeda on the Twin Towers in NYC, at the Pentagon building in Washington DC, and on United Airlines Flight 93 In Pennsylvania.

The attacks were heartbreaking to all the U.S. citizens and to the entire world. International community supported the United States in the struggle against the global terror threats. Republic of Azerbaijan also supported America unconditionally. They immediately sent troops to Afghanistan and Iraq to fight next to American soldiers against terrorism. They opened all their airspace for US military. This response reflected Azerbaijan's commitment to fight terrorism anywhere in the world. An Azerbaijani-American U.S. Marine, Lance Corporal Mourad Ragimov of San Diego, California, lost his life during the U.S. operations in Iraq.

Twenty two years later we continue to honor the memories of those who died, their loved ones and the many first responders who risked their lives to bring healing to a fractured society.

September 11, 2001 is a memory that can never be erased from our minds.

Proud Americans with Proud Azerbaijani Heritage.
