Letter from His Excellency Ilham Aliyev celebrating 50th anniversary of ASA

Dear compatriots,

I am congratulating you with an important event in the lives of the Azerbaijanis living in the United States of America- the 50th anniversary of Azerbaijan Society of America.

Azerbaijan Society of America, being one of the first diaspora organizations of Azerbaijan, has been conducting consistent and purposeful work for the unification of our compatriots, living in the United States and for development of mutual relations between our countries.

The works, done during the past 50 years by this organization, which is founded by the descendants of one of the founders of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic Nagi bey Seykhzamanli is highly appreciated in the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Today, Republic of Azerbaijan- the motherland of all Azerbaijanis around the world, being transformed into an equal-rights member of the world community, has stepped into the path of dynamic development. There is a special role for millions of Azerbaijanis outside of the boundaries of the motherland in the progress of Azerbaijan, which has entered the ranks of the most economically potential countries, and in its getting the deserved place in the international arena.

The idea of unity and solidarity of world Azerbaijanis, initiated by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev forms the highest goal of contemporary Azerbaijan’s cultural renaissance, economic progress, national self-understanding of our nation. The realization of idea of Azerbaijanism to a large extend depends on the patriotic activity of every Azerbaijani, irrespective of their country of residence, social status, world view, political opinions. The 50 years long activity of Azerbaijan Society of America should be evaluated precisely as an example of patriotism.

Dear compatriots,

I am sure that from now on as well, Azerbaijan Society of America will play an active role in presenting the realities of our nation’s history and contemporary life to the global community, contribute to the strengthening of US-Azerbaijan relations and defending the national interests of our country.

Once again, I congratulate you with this important jubilee, and wish you new successes in your activity.
