Azerbaijan Society of America (ASA) congratulates Joseph R. Biden on being sworn-in as the 46th President of the United States

Azerbaijan Society of America (ASA) congratulates Joseph R. Biden on being sworn-in as the 46th President of the United States and Kamala D. Harris on making American history as the first female / minority Vice President of the United States.

The Azerbaijan Society of America, established in 1957, is the oldest Diaspora Organization representing Azerbaijani Americans. For 34 years prior to the restoration of Azerbaijan’s independence in 1991, the Azerbaijani Diaspora community of America was able to keep our identity, raise our flag, preserve our language and cultural heritage while we lived in America, our adopted and beloved country which gave us freedom when this was not allowed in the Soviet Union.  We are proud Americans with Azerbaijani heritage.

We are confident you and your team know that Azerbaijan has been a significant partner in the American-led efforts to eradicate terrorism from the world and continues to strive to offer our Allies in Europe energy independence so they are no longer dependent on Russia for energy.  This presents a unique opportunity for a bipartisan effort to improve US relations with Azerbaijan, the one and only Shia Muslim majority country with an Embassy from Israel in its capital, Baku.

We look forward to working with the Biden Administration to achieve real and lasting strong ties between US and Azerbaijan. We are at your service as patriotic American citizens to help build bridges between our two great countries.
