In Remembrance of the Khojaly Massacre: A Tragedy that Shaped History

On the night of February 25-26, 1992, the peaceful town of Khojaly in Azerbaijan was the site of one of the most horrific atrocities in modern history. The Khojaly Massacre, which occurred during the Karabakh conflict, saw the brutal murder of over 600 Azerbaijani civilians, including women, children, and the elderly, by Armenian forces and their allies.

The events that unfolded in Khojaly stand as a dark chapter, not just for Azerbaijan, but for humanity as a whole. The massacre was not only an attack on civilians but also an act of ethnic cleansing that left deep scars on the people of Azerbaijan. To this day, the memories of those lost remain a painful reminder of the human cost of conflict.

As we approach the 33rd anniversary of this tragedy, the Azerbaijan Society of America extends its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and to the entire Azerbaijani nation. We stand in solidarity with you, mourning the lives lost and remembering the courage of those who survived.

The Khojaly Massacre is not just a historical event; it is a call for justice, remembrance, and peace. It is a reminder that the pursuit of truth and reconciliation is crucial for preventing such atrocities from being repeated in the future.

The Azerbaijan Society of America remains committed to raising awareness about Khojaly and ensuring that the memory of this horrific event is preserved for future generations. We honor the victims, the survivors, and all those who continue to seek justice for Khojaly.

May the souls of those who perished in Khojaly rest in peace, and may Azerbaijan continue to heal and thrive as a nation.

In Solidarity,

Azerbaijan Society of America
